:wave: My name is Kathy Hämmerl. My pronouns are they/them in English; dey/dem/deren in German.

I am a final-year PhD student at TU Munich in Computer Science (though I spent much of my PhD at CIS, LMU). My supervisor is Alex Fraser at TUM, and Jindřich Libovický from Charles University, Prague, has mentored me since my Master’s thesis. I’m affiliated with and supported by the Munich Center for Machine Learning. In 2024, I went on a research visit to Prague, and in 2025 I completed a six-month internship with LILT.

My main research interests are multilingual language modelling, machine translation, and multilingual evaluation, particularly for low-resource settings. I’m also interested in how human biases are reified in language models, and how to address them.
